EV & Hybrid Collision Repair in Bellevue, WA

We repair all makes and models, EV and hybrid included. When a repair involves the car’s frame, our own technicians disconnect the high-voltage battery before the work starts and reconnect it when the work is done. On a Tesla, we take the repairs that are mostly paint and bodywork, and we refer structural damage to a Tesla-certified shop.

Tesla paint and bodywork, with a warranty for as long as you own the car.

Jon Devine, our PPG-certified paint technician, matches the finish to your car’s paint code, and paintless dent repair keeps the factory paint wherever a panel only needs reshaping. The shop is I-CAR Gold Class. Our limited lifetime warranty on workmanship is honored at 200+ Fix Auto shops for as long as you own the car. Hybrids and EVs from other makers, such as a Hyundai Ioniq 5, get full collision repair here, frame work included.

How an EV or hybrid is repaired

Three steps between a damaged EV and a finished one.

The battery comes out of the circuit before anyone works on the frame. Structural repair means pulling, cutting and welding the parts of the car that hold it together, and on an EV or a hybrid the high-voltage cables run through those parts. So the battery is disconnected first, which makes the car safe to work on. We do not repair or replace the battery itself.

01
Disconnect.

When the damage reaches the frame, our technicians disconnect the high-voltage battery before any pulling or welding starts. That step stays with our own technicians and is never sent to a dealer.

02
Repair.

The frame is measured on our Chief measuring system and pulled back to the manufacturer’s specification, and the panels are repaired or replaced and refinished. Aluminum panels are worked in their own bay with their own tools.

03
Reconnect and calibrate.

Our technicians reconnect the battery once the repair is finished. If the repair disturbed a camera or radar sensor, an independent calibration specialist re-aims it at our shop, and you get the post-scan report.

Our ADAS calibration guide explains when that step is needed.

Teslas

What we repair on a Tesla, and what goes to a certified shop.

We are not a Tesla-certified shop. Tesla sells its structural parts only to the shops it certifies, so when a Tesla needs one, such as a new quarter panel or a frame rail, we refer the car to a Tesla-certified shop. Tesla’s collision support page lists the ones near you.

On a Tesla, we do the bodywork and the paint. That covers a scraped bumper cover, a keyed or scratched door, or a dent with the paint still intact, which our paintless dent repair often fixes without repainting. When a repair needs a part that is not structural, such as a bumper cover or a tail light, we order it from Tesla. We look at every car before we commit to it, and we’ll tell you whether yours is a repair we take.

We do not take the Tesla Cybertruck at all, and Rivian and Lucid vehicles go elsewhere too.

EV repair and the claim

When an EV repair goes through insurance.

Once you’ve filed a claim with your insurer, Fix Auto Bellevue handles it from there. We write the estimate from what we find on the car, and if more damage turns up once it is apart, we photograph it and send it to your adjuster as a supplement.

Straight answers

What people ask about EV and hybrid repair.

Can any body shop work on a Tesla?

Yes, for cosmetic work. Tesla lets any independent shop order parts for collision repair, but it sells structural parts only to the shops it certifies. We take Tesla repairs that are mostly paint and bodywork, such as a scraped bumper cover, a keyed door or a dent with the paint intact. Structural damage goes to a Tesla-certified shop.

Are you a Tesla-certified body shop?

No. Fix Auto Bellevue is I-CAR Gold Class and Subaru Certified, and it is not Tesla certified. Tesla sells its structural parts, such as a quarter panel or a frame rail, only to the shops it certifies. We refer that work to a Tesla-certified shop and repair the paint, scratch and dent damage ourselves.

Do you repair hybrids and other electric cars?

Yes. We repair hybrids and electric cars from makers that do not require a certified shop, structural work included. A RAV4 Hybrid or a Hyundai Ioniq 5 goes through the same repair as any other car. The one added step is the high-voltage battery, which our technicians disconnect before the structural work and reconnect after.

Why does the high-voltage battery get disconnected?

On an EV or a hybrid, the high-voltage cables run through the same parts of the car that a structural repair pulls and welds. Disconnecting the battery first makes the car safe to work on. Our own technicians do it at our shop and reconnect the battery afterward. We never repair or replace the battery.

Do you repair the Cybertruck, Rivian or Lucid?

No. We do not repair the Tesla Cybertruck, and we do not work on Rivian or Lucid vehicles. We do repair other electric cars and hybrids, structural work included. On the other Tesla models, we take the paint and bodywork that can be repaired without structural parts, and we refer structural damage to a Tesla-certified shop.
